BioMagic is an industrial bio-stimulant that is non-hazardous and completely biodegradable. Its properties allow for instant odour elimination upon contact with malodorous molecules and can be used in the treatment of liquid and solid organic waste. The formula is designed to hyper-accelerate the activity of indigenous microbes, mainly facultative anaerobes, inhabiting waste stream environments by providing an abundance of oxygen (electron acceptor) for metabolism to occur. BioMagic reaction with organic material (Biomass) is the same as nature’s reaction, only highly accelerated by the addition of large amounts of oxygen. When BioMagic is sprayed on or mixed with odour producing organic material, odours in gaseous state including Hydrogen Sulphide are eliminated by oxidation.

BioMagic works fast to eliminate long term odours and decompose organic material. There are many types of bacteria found in organic waste. They utilise their environment in different manners for energy and building materials needed for growth and reproduction. Most of these bacteria’s can be either anaerobic (no oxygen) or aerobic (with oxygen) and are called facultative. Facultative means, being able to exist in more than one state.

Instant Odour Elimination. The reduction or elimination of the production of odour takes the time that is required for the bacteria to change states, (anaerobic to aerobic). The aerobic condition lasts as long as the oxygen is available.

BioMagic OXIDISES H2S INSTANTLY. Mixing BioMagic into a solution chemically eliminates the H2S. Spraying BioMagic in the air chemically eliminates the H2S instantly. The odour control results are therefor for all practical purposes, INSTANT.

In the presence of sufficient Oxygen and nutrients, bacteria will become aerobic. In the aerobic form, the bacteria can consume about seven to ten times the waste compared to the anaerobic state and they do not produce Hydrogen Sulphide, thus eliminating odours.

The corrosion associated with Hydrogen Sulphide is eliminated. Hydrogen Sulphide mixed with water produces sulphuric acid.

BioMagic affects aerobic bacteria in ways no other compounds do. The chemicals in BioMagic hyper activate the aerobic bacteria beyond what is expected from just adding dissolved oxygen.

Aerobic bacteria are more active and are about five to seven times more efficient than anaerobic bacteria at digesting organic material. The BioMagic treated bacteria will consume more organic solids, the bacteria population will rapidly increase and be healthier and faster, without the production of odours.

Bacteria in a waste solution are living organisms that need energy to survive and digest solids. They get energy through the composting process of organic material. Oxygen, which is vital to the composting process, is supplied in one of three ways, sulphate, air, or nitrate

Anaerobic state; Air and nitrate sources are limited in most waste systems, so oxygen is derived from the sulphates found in waste material. As a result, Hydrogen Sulphide is produced, which causes the foul odours and heavy corrosion of machinery and plumbing.

The Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) mixes with water (H₂O) to form sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄.) Sulphuric acid is very corrosive. Anaerobic bacteria will also produce Methane Gas. Methane (CH₄ ) is a colourless and odourless flammable gas.

Aerobic state: Supplying oxygen by aeration provides about 3 to 8 PPM (parts per million) of dissolved oxygen. There is virtually unlimited oxygen and nutrients made available by utilising BioMagic In the dilution recommended, BioMagic supplies 350 to 400 PPM of oxygen. One treatment can keep the bacteria aerobic for days, weeks, or longer. Aerobic bacteria do not produce Hydrogen Sulphide but produces carbon dioxide, which plants need to produce oxygen.

CHLORINE is a very strong biocide that stops all bacterial action. Chlorine dissipates rapidly, in hours. When the chlorine is dissipated, the smell returns. Chlorine is not environmentally friendly. Although chlorine is cheap and is available in many forms, it is not good for people, animals or the environment.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE is also a strong biocide that stops all bacterial action. Hydrogen Peroxide is an unstable compound that is easily made into water by sunlight. Hydrogen Peroxide dissipates in hours like chlorine. Hydrogen Peroxide in concentrate is not cheap and is difficult to store and use.

ENZYMES - Enzyme products have a shorter shelf life and are basically a catalyst that allows the existing bacteria to utilise the dissolved oxygen better. BioMagic supplies so much oxygen that adding an enzyme product does not noticeably improve the aerobic bacterial action except in the situation where large amounts of dissolved oxygen is available. However, when the dissolved oxygen is consumed, the bacteria revert to the anaerobic state. Test have shown that in a situation where aeration of the biomass is generating 7 to 8 PPM of dissolved oxygen, an enzyme may reduce the amount of BioMagic required.

Bacteria - Adding large amounts of bacteria will jump-start the digestion of a biomass. However, the natural bacteria in the presence of large amounts of oxygen will grow and multiply and accomplish the exact same results, making adding bacteria unnecessary. Bacteria have a limited shelf life.

OXYGENATED WATER - Several products claim to have extra oxygen in their solution. These products are made from fish and other organic decaying products. Lab tests of these products have shown that they do have a small effect on the bacterial growth.

NON-ORGANIC PERFUME FROM "BLUE/GREEN" CHEMICALS – This chemical simply covers the original odour with a real "noxious" odour that is hard to get rid of. It has no real power to eliminate odours and does nothing to neutralise biomass. It simply tries to cover one odour with another.

BioMagic has an unlimited shelf life, is not voidable, does not decompose by normal sunlight, is a hydrated compound that keeps moisture available for bacterial action. BioMagic is a biodegradable and non-hazardous product that is 100% guaranteed to be the fastest and best product for eliminating organic odours and decaying organic waste. The amount of BioMagic required varies with usage and temperature. If the odour producing material is dry, pre-dampen with water to allow the BioMagic to contact all of the odour producing materials. Spray lightly until odours are eliminated.

Using BioMagic for holding tanks and portable toilets etc. Adjust dosage for no-smell. BioMagic will not function if mixed with chlorine, ammonia or other biocides. For septic tanks, for initial application, use a double dose.

Spray BioMagic for heavy-duty odours and flies occurring in animal stalls, general waste, compost, rubbish etc. Speed up Composting and eliminate odours by turning and spraying. Spraying the surface will not stop the odours produced at the bottom of a compost pile. Fertilise plants and kill surface weeds by spraying the dirt at the base of the plant with undiluted. Do not use on the foliage as it will burn or kill the plant.

General Spraying. Use for cat-litter boxes, flies on or around animals, bathing animals, baby diapers and containers, kitchen rubbish and cooking odours, carpet odours, spray to dampen carpet and pad. Test for colour fastness before spraying. BioMagic must contact and wet or moisten the odour producing material to eliminate long term odours. When the odour returns, use more BioMagic It will absorb moisture from the air, keeping treated areas moist so the bacteria can function.

How long will BioMagic last? BioMagic will continue to deodorise until the oxygen in solution is expended. When the available oxygen in BioMagic is consumed, the septic condition and odours will return.

BioMagic is extremely effective in neutralising gaseous odours and converting a biomass to the aerobic state. The following applications are some of the practical uses for BioMagic. New applications are being discovered daily.

NB. BioMagic is formulated differently for different uses. Please use the right BioMagic product for your application. If in doubt we will be happy to help.

Bathrooms: Spray BioMagic (General spray bottle), around toilet and in the shower or tub or use as a general odour eliminating spray. A couple of sprays of BioMagic will do.

Carpet, Upholstery and Drapery Deodorising: Dilute BioMagic (General spray bottle) with equal parts of water. (If the odour is bad, use undiluted). Spray a light mist directly on the carpet, upholstery and draperies. Please note that after spraying, surfaces may remain damp for a while.

Closets: Spray BioMagic (General spray bottle) in your closet by spraying it towards the ceiling of the closet, going all around all 4 walls to get rid of musty odours.

Diaper Pails: Spray BioMagic (General spray bottle) in your diaper pail to get rid of odour. When placing a dirty diaper the in pail, give another spray of BioMagic to keep odour away. (Remember BioMagic, must contact all of the odour producing material to keep odour away)

Drains: To keep your drains and pipes clear, simply pour in 50 ml BioMagic once a week. This will keep drains that are slow from grease or hair etc, flowing freely. The drains may be cleared if blocked, by putting BioMagic in contact with the debris causing the stoppage. The cleaning action requires time for the bacteria to digest the stoppage. Regular treatment will keep the drains clean and clear.

An added benefit of using BioMagic on a regular schedule is the elimination or reduction of the corrosive acids that damage plumbing, generated by the Hydrogen Sulphide produced by the septic or anaerobic bacteria.

Flies & Ants: Flies do not like BioMagic and tend to stay away when area is sprayed daily. Ants lose their scent tracks when the ground is sprayed with BioMagic and it will remain active even after it dries. Depending on the dilution, BioMagic will kill ants directly sprayed on.

Fertilising Plants: Pour or spray BioMagic at the base of plant. BioMagic provides a large amount of oxygen to plants to help them grow much faster. Do not let BioMagic touch the plant or leaves, use it only on the dirt in the pot or on the ground around the base of the plants. This will increase the rate of decay of organic material. The decaying matter produces nitrogen and nitrates that the plants need to grow. Pour or spray directly onto any weeds to kill them. It will fertilise your plants whilst killing the weeds at the same time.

Compost: Spray compost with BioMagic making sure that you turn the compost and spray BioMagic after each turn so it reaches all of the compost. This will not only get rid of the odour but will also greatly hasten the composting time by up to 7 times.

Laundry: Use BioMagic in your washer to eliminate all odours. Do not use when adding chlorine bleach as it will nullify the BioMagic solution.

Refrigerator and Freezer: COVER OR REMOVE ANY EXPOSED FOODS. Spray BioMagic directly on the inside walls of the refrigerator and freezer to get rid of odour.

Septic Tanks: Add to get rid of odour. If odour persists, pour additional BioMagic until odour is gone.

Sewage back-up: Spray or pour enough BioMagic to eliminate the odour. BioMagic will instantly eliminate the odour and will make the waste non-toxic. Mop up area with detergent and BioMagic to freshen the area. Add BioMagic to a container that attaches to your garden hose for a quick and easy application.

Rubbish Bins: Spray BioMagic in rubbish bins and around trash area. This will not only get rid of the odours but will also discourage ants and flies.

BioMagic makes a wonderful deodorant for your car, truck or van. Eliminate tobacco or any other organic odour by spraying with BioMagic.

Dog or Cat Urine: If the urine is on carpet, first test a small area of the carpet. You must spray or pour BioMagic on the carpet so that it goes down to the padding. By going down to the padding, the stain will not come back once the carpet is dry. Leave the BioMagic on the carpet to work for about 2 minutes then use a clean towel to rub stain and then press towel into stain to soak up all the liquid.

Cat Litterbox: Spray BioMagic once a day or as needed into cat litterbox to get rid of odour.

Fleas and constant scratching: Shampoo your dog or cat, and while the animal is still wet, spray on BioMagic (diluted ) and rub into the fur. Dry animal with a towel or let air dry. No more scratching!

Asphalt Plants: BioMagic can by applied by "misting" to remove all smells. It’s extremely cost effective, and plants in the USA that previously had to close at night can now operate 24 hours a day without upsetting their neighbours. Contact Snap for dosage.

Grey Water Tanks : Require about half the dosage of a holding tank.. For all applications, adjust the dosage as required to eliminate odours.

Holding Tanks: Add BioMagic to the holding tank. Adjust the dosage to control odours.

First Time Use Instructions for Holding Tanks: Use double the ordinary dose for the first application. Biocides or cleaning products with chlorine that kill bacteria should not be used when the waste or septic tank is in use. The natural bacteria in sewage will start or restart the biodegradable cycle after chemicals and cleaning products are out of the system.

Non-Organic Perfume odours from the foul Blue chemicals that are used in portable toilets. Eliminating the noxious perfume odours used in many toilet chemicals can be challenging. Boat, Bus and RV’s that have used the BLUE STUFF for a long time should be aware that the interior walls, foam and fabric have absorbed the perfume and will continue to smell for some time, even though BioMagic is used in the toilet.

Perfumes and non-organic odours deep inside the foam and fabrics are difficult to reach with BioMagic. It may be eliminated with Ozone (activated oxygen). Ozone will remove perfume and tobacco odours without wetting the foam. The downside to Ozone is that it dissipates in about 30 or so minutes where as BioMagic continues to control odours for days. Breathing Ozone in the concentrations required to effectively deodorise is harmful. The best advice is to completely wash down the interior and the foam and fabric with BioMagic.

BioMagic is a new technology that accelerates natures waste elimination clean up cycle. BioMagic will eliminate, (not mask), odours and turn the contents of your holding tank to harmless fertiliser. BioMagic is an environmentally friendly product that is safe to use to correct the waste problems on your boat. Use BioMagic in the bilge or spray the odour producing material. Applying BioMagic to a stainless steel part and allowing the part to set for several days will allow any flaws to oxidise, making them much more visible.

Hospitals and Home Healthcare: Adding BioMagic to a bedpan, or spraying with BioMagic will control the odour and make handling bedpans a much more pleasant task. Spraying waste will eliminate odours.

Portable Toilets: Adjust the dosage for no odour, depending on the usage. Spray the area around the toilet with BioMagic to remove odours.

Public Gathering Places: Spraying the carpets and walls of a room and the bar area with BioMagic will eliminate the odours from smoking, stale beer and other odours.

Restaurants and Food preparation plants: Spray food wastes with BioMagic and use it to clean the food preparation areas. Do not allow BioMagic to become mixed with food or products that may be consumed by humans or animals. Washing will remove BioMagic.

Street Washing: BioMagic will activate the aerobic bacteria to eliminate odours and help to clean up human, dog or other waste before the water exits into the storm drains and into the ocean.

Trash Hauling Trucks: BioMagic should be sprayed on the trash when loaded in the truck and during the sorting and transfer process. The massive odour problems associated with trash and garbage are eliminated, at low cost, by BioMagic

Trash Transfer Station odour: Overhead misting with diluted BioMagic (Refer to Snap Ltd for correct dilution rate), will oxidise the odours produced by trash. This treatment does not completely stop the odours produced, but eliminates the airborne odours. The misting must encompass the compete area where odours are produced.

Veterinary clinics and hospitals: Spraying with BioMagic will eliminate foul waste odours.

The heavy use of fertiliser on and around golf courses has been found to create an ideal environment for algae growth. If a pond is aerobic, it will help, but we have found that it is difficult to eliminate the algae.

BioMagic has passed the minnow laboratory test and is safe for fish as long as the dose is below 750 milligrams per litre.

Grease Traps: Most restaurants have a grease trap installed to prevent grease getting intro the waste water system & blocking the pipes. These can often smell horribly and are expensive to service. BioMagic instantly removes any bad odour & can very inexpensively keep the grease trap clear & clean.GREASE TRAPS

However due to the fact that every grease trap is different, the following procedure is an outline of what we have found to work in the grease traps treated to date.

BioMagic will provide the conditions that will allow the aerobic bacteria to digest the grease and eliminate the odours from grease traps

The best way to treat the grease solids build up in a grease trap is with a spray of BioMagic. The exact amount of spray will be determined by the empirical method.

We recommend a spray system that will produce a misting pattern that will cover the waste that needs to be digested. The misting spray should run long enough to saturate the surface of the waste and then shut down and allow the bacteria to work.

If the situation exists where the amount of grease or waste trapped in a grease trap exceeds the volume of waste the aerobic bacteria can digest, the trap must be reconfigured or redesigned for a larger area to be completely successful.

BioMagic will change the state of the bacteria present in a grease trap from anaerobic to aerobic. Aerobic bacteria will digest waste up to seven times faster than anaerobic bacteria.

Misting BioMagic overhead has proven to be the best method of continuous odour control. A less efficient method is to inject BioMagic into wash water, wash down, and then spray pens, walls and floors.

Cattle & Dairy Farms: Use BioMagic in wash water or wash down and then spray pens, walls and floors. It is important that the BioMagic is sprayed evenly over all waste material to completely eliminate odours. Spray daily as needed to control odour. Spraying milking areas with BioMagic, diluted with equal parts of water, will eliminate the odours.

Fish Farms: Some fish farms have containers to catch the waste from the fish. These containers are pumped out and the waste is taken to shore. Once on shore you can add BioMagic, approximately 1500 ppm to bring the fish waste to a non-toxic state. Unlike other animal waste, fish waste contains Putricine, an odour that is very hard to eliminate. By using BioMagic at 1500 PPM added to the waste, it will take approximately 2-3 days to eliminate the odour from the fish waste. It will take approximately 10 to 14 days to process the fish waste to a non-toxic state. Dead fish can also be treated with BioMagic (1500 ppm) to decompose and turn into a non-toxic state.

Shrimp Farms: Shrimp and fish farms are easy to treat as they have much less solid waste. Aquaculture ponds require a much smaller dose than sewage. Start the dosage at one part BioMagic per million of water, per day, when the shrimp are small and increase as required. The highest reported dose is five parts per million. BioMagic is used extensively in Thailand shrimp ponds.

Horse Farms: BioMagic should be used the same way as for cattle and dairy farms. For animal stalls with mud floors, simply spray on BioMagic. Mud floors in animal pens or stalls are very difficult to control the odour as the urine and waste mix in with the dirt and makes mud. Controlling the odour requires that BioMagic contact the odour producing material. The BioMagic must mix with the mud to effectively control odours. An additional benefit for horses is that when BioMagic is sprayed on the muddy ground on a daily basis, it will help to prevent, and in a lot of cases help heal hoof disease.

Several of the horse farms that use BioMagic report that bandaged wounds treated with BioMagic do not attract flies, the animal does not pull the bandage and the wound heals faster.

Mushroom Farms: Use BioMagic diluted with up to equal parts of water. (Refer to Snap for dilution rates). To control odour, pour BioMagic in your process water and use that process water to wet your compost, making sure that the compost is thoroughly mixed with the BioMagic solution. In most cases, by using an overhead misting system with BioMagic pumped into it, it will keep your growing area odour free. BioMagic will hasten the composting time and will make a better, denser crop of mushrooms.

Pig Farms: Pig farms differ from other animal farms in that pigs produce the odour called Tutricine. Unlike other organic waste odours that BioMagic can instantly eliminate, it will take approximately 2-3 days of spraying to eliminate the odour of Tutricine. The odour can be instantly eliminated if BioMagic is combined with certain bacteria. (We can provide an inexpensive source for bacteria products.) Once odour has been eliminated, BioMagic on its own, sprayed daily will keep odour away. Use in wash water and wash down pens, walls and floors on a regular basis to stop odours from returning.

Poultry Farms: Untreated poultry waste produces ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and methane gases. The way to treat the production of these foul-smelling gases is to provide the nutrients and oxygen to change the anaerobic bacteria to aerobic. To eliminate the Hydrogen Sulphide Gas that poultry are forced to breathe, install or use an existing misting spray system with BioMagic injected utilising a metered pump system. (If there is no misting system, wash down walls with BioMagic and spray floor to eliminate odour as needed, on daily basis.) The continuous misting provides the oxygen to keep the waste products aerobic, eliminating the H₂S and NH₃ generation. Ventilation may be decreased to reduce heating costs in cold weather. BioMagic will also reduce respiratory problems and thereby reducing veterinarian bills and mortality rates. Treating poultry waste with BioMagic allows a more rapid composting of the waste to allow it to be used or sold as fertiliser.

Many factors can affect the dosage so when starting the application it is best to set the dosage high enough for no odours, after which the BioMagic may be diluted..

NB. Diluting BioMagic for Use after Odour is controlled: For poultry farms, BioMagic may be diluted with water, once the odour is controlled. Try diluting gradually by test spraying the odour producing materials at different dilution ratios. Once you have the proper ratio, spray daily as needed for odour control

Various materials such as special bacteria and enzymes have been used to provide a reduction of the anaerobic bacteria and an increase the aerobic bacteria. These treatments are expensive due to the high cost of manufacture. BioMagic provides the nutrients to take the bio mass aerobic at much lower cost.

Sewage Lagoons Dairies, Poultry, Swine, Cattle, Mix BioMagic by injecting into the wash water or dumping into the lagoon at several places. (Consulting services are available)

The preferred way of injecting or dosing a pond is with a continuous feed arrangement. Continuous feed allows better control of the level of the nutrients supplied by BioMagic

A pond that is close to 200 million litres and has a BOD of 250 mg/l will require in the neighbourhood of 200 Lt for a specific time period. For example, the tests on the pond indicate that 200 Lt per day is the correct dosage. A tank and metering pump that will meter 200 Lt in a twenty-four hour period will keep the dosage at the optimum level.

Dumping litres in one batch will tend to over dose the area where applied and does not allow the proper control of the dosage level.

Using an adjustable continuous feed system will allow the system to be adjusted to the most economical usage of BioMagic for the fastest solids digestion and OPTIMUM ODOUR CONTROL.

A milk-producing cow will generate about 45 kg’s of solid waste per day and about 27 kg’s of liquid waste.

A 2,000 cow dairy produces (2.000 x 45 kg’s), 90.000 Kg’s of solid waste per day. That is 90 metric tons of solid manure a day. The elimination of years of solid waste does not happen instantaneously.

Aerobic bacteria digest more solids by seven to ten times faster than anaerobic bacteria. Keeping a biomass aerobic with BioMagic will eliminate the odours and accelerate the digestion of the solids. But the digestion of years of heavy solids does not happen in a week or several weeks. Because of the function of the amount of solids and the composition of the solids, months not weeks are normal. If solids are continually added, the aerobic bacteria may not be able to digest as fast as solids are added. Some animal waste ponds or lagoons have been found to be seriously over used.

An anaerobic pond that is about 13.5 million litres and has a surface area of one acre will digest the waste of 100 cows under normal conditions. The same pond in the aerobic state with the proper strains of bacteria will support the waste of about five times the number of cows. For example, a 13.5 million-litre pond with a surface area of one acre will support the waste of up to five hundred cows.

A normal pond may be kept aerobic by aeration. If the pond is overloaded or over used, adding sufficient quantities of BioMagic to the over used pond will stop the odours, but the bacteria may not be able to digest all the solids. BioMagic will take a pond aerobic in any case and stop the production of odours

In the past, we assumed that the treatment of wastewater going into normal sewage plants and animal (dairy) waste ponds were the same. Unfortunately, the solids in a dairy waste pond are so much more than the solids in normal sewage, that we have not had the desired success treating animal waste ponds in all cases as we have had in other applications. We have always, however, eliminated the odour.

Lagoons are normally anaerobic, meaning that there is not enough oxygen in the water to allow bacterial processes utilising oxygen (aerobic). The anaerobic bacteria are not as efficient as aerobic in breaking down organic solids and they produce sulphide compounds, which cause the foul odours. Keeping the pond aerobic allows the bacteria to digest the solids faster.

In some ponds, the amount of waste is so far out of the design parameters for the pond, keeping the pond aerobic stops the odours and helps, but cannot digest all the waste placed in the pond.

Mechanical cleaning is the only answer for a pond that is way over used beyond the design for the pond, however, BioMagic will always stop the production of odours.

These need to have BioMagic applied on a continuous but intermittent basis. We found that 30 minutes per hour every hour works well.

The best way to apply BioMagic is with a timer, metering pump and a piping arrangement with misting nozzles that will automatically apply the BioMagic

METERING PUMPS: When a measuring or metering pump is recommended, the pump needs to have the following features:

THE MISTING NOZZLES recommended are available at hardware or nursery supply stores. The nozzles are all plastic and come in various flows. They are screwed into a punched hole in plastic pipe. Assembly is very simple and low cost.

The selection of the number and flow of the nozzles should be designed to allow the BioMagic to completely wet down the grease and the collection areas of the grease trap.

The application rate of BioMagic will be determined by amount of grease in the trap. Therefore an exact rate of application is not possible to pre-describe.

A good starting point is to estimate the amount of grease in the grease trap. For example, if the grease collected is about 30 litres, the starting settings for the pump would be to spray about 250 ml of BioMagic (diluted), on the surface of the grease in the grease trap every day. After a few days, the dosage may be able to be reduced.

The suggested dosage for start is set high on purpose so as to allow the dosage to be reduced as experience is gained in eliminating the grease and odours.

Wastewater plants grease traps only exposes the top of the grease so the above rule does not fully apply, as only a small part of the grease is exposed. Continuous intermittent misting to keep the surface moist appears to work well for the huge grease traps at wastewater plants.

Biocides such chlorine bleach kill the bacteria. If strong Biocides are used in the cleaning process, the biocides should be removed from the grease trap by clear flowing water until the biocides are flushed out of the trap. Inexpensive test kits to test for chlorine are available at laboratory supply stores.

After a week or so, the bacteria will decompose the grease and the waste will start to disappear. The complete procedure may take several weeks to months to completely clean up the trap.

If the dosage of BioMagic is correct, the odours will be eliminated from the solids. In the general case where anaerobic wastewater is flowing through the grease trap, the odours from the anaerobic wastewater will still be present.

After the grease has been digested, reducing the time that the pump runs and reducing the amount of BioMagic used is suggested. Reduce the run time in small increments. For example, if the run time is set for fifteen minutes, reduce the pump run time in two-minute steps, allowing several weeks to see if the grease trap remains clean. Continue reducing the run time until the grease trap starts to show grease and then increase the run time just enough to keep the trap clean.

The same procedure outlined for small grease traps in Restaurants applies to the very large grease traps located at the input to waste water treatment plants.

The grease trap at the San Bernardino California plant has been using BioMagic for three months.

The trap had not been cleaned for about FIVE years and was full up to the top. The first thirty days, the application of BioMagic was about 6 gallons per day. The grease was changed from a rock hard solid to soft grease and the level of the grease was reduced by about 24 inches.

The dosage was increased to about 10 gallons per day and after 60 days total treatment, the level of the grease was lowered another 48 inches.

The Plug of grease in the trap at the start of the application, was over 20 feet thick. The trap will be completely clean within the next 60 to 90 days. AND THE ODOURS HAVE ALL DISAPPEARED. The golf course next door is very happy.

Biocides in the Bio-mass (sodium hyperchloride, formaldehyde, iodine, chlorine and etc)

The bacteria will function best at a pH of 6.0 to 8.0. If the pH is high or low, the most probable cause is the biocide used to sterilise and sanitise animals and equipment where the waste is generated. Correcting the problem at the source is better than adding chemicals to the pond.

A pH of 6 to 8 is within reason, the closer the pH is to neutral (7.0) the better.

The BOD of NORMAL WASTEWATER OR SEWAGE IS IN THE LOW HUNDREDS, not the thousands. IF THE BOD IS OVER 1,000, the pond is in serious trouble. Under these conditions, the pond will be making H₂S and is in need of oxygen. If the BOD is above 1000, the pond will need a heavy dosage of Aeration and/or BioMagic to bring down the BOD. The recommenced dosage is 0.05 percent per gallon of raw sewage.

For example, to treat one million gallons of waste with a very high BOD, ADD 1500 GALLONS OF BioMagic as the start treatment.

IF THE BOD IS UNDER, the treatment necessary is less than the case where the BOD is very high. The recommenced starting dosage is 0.01 percent per litre of raw sewage. For example, to treat one million litres of waste with a high BOD, add 100 litres of BioMagic.

Oxygen is necessary to retain the bacteria in the aerobic state. The air that is in contact with the surface of the pond supplies oxygen.

Agitating the surface will increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the pond water. In nature, oxygen is supplied to a stream of water as the water runs over rocks and is agitated by movement.

A non agitated pond will have a very low dissolved oxygen reading. In nature, the BOD is supplied by the DISSOLVED OXYGEN.

The measure of dissolved oxygen is used mostly when aeration is used to increase the dissolved oxygen. A motionless pond will have a DISSOLVED OXYGEN reading of under 3 ppm. With the proper aeration, the Dissolved Oxygen will increase to about 8 ppm.

BioMagic will supply over 30 PPM of oxygen to the biomass, which is many times more than necessary to keep bacteria aerobic.

The dissolved sulphide level will be above 5 to 14 PPM for an untreated pond. If the sulphide level is above 3 to 4 PPM, the pond will produce a foul odour.

Dissolved sulphides are produced by anaerobic bacteria. As the sulphides are produced, the water can only hold so much sulphide. The excess sulphide is eliminated in the form of a foul Hydrogen Sulphide gas.

Treating a pond with sufficient oxygen (BioMagic) will stop the production of sulphides and will chemically neutralise the existing sulphides.

Reducing the sulphide production to the level that hydrogen sulphide gas is no longer produced is the normal condition for wastewater treatment.

The solid waste in the slurry is known as TSS. The bacteria will digest the waste in suspension more rapidly than the heavy sludge at the bottom of the pond.

The TSS reduction is an indication of how well the bacteria are functioning. Zero TSS is the desired reading.

Chlorine and other biocides will reduce the bacterial action in a pond and if the biocide level is too high, it stops all the bacterial action.

The cleaning and sterilisation procedures must be reviewed and only the amount of BIOCIDES that are necessary be allowed to be washed or injected into the pond.

During the first few weeks, the solids that cover the top of the lagoon will slowly disappear. A much higher level of gas bubbles will be apparent, indicating increased bacterial action. Large chunks of solids will float to the surface. The solids will disperse back into the water with time.

Take a 208 Lt (fifty-five gallon) sample of the biomass. Start the test by dosing with .005 % of the volume of the waste and allow the sample to work for 24 hours. If the sample stops making odours, the dosage is correct. If the sample is still producing odour, dose with additional dosage until the odour disappears. A smaller or larger sample may be used if the dosage is adjusted

When the odour is eliminated, wait for SOME odour to return and then dose with what ever it takes to keep the sample odour free. Continue the process until the solids in the sample become a liquid and then are digested.

A 208 Lt (55 gallon) sample is 7040 ounces of biomass. The dosage for 208 Litres of waste at .005% is 1 Lt (3.5 ounces) of BioMagic.

Using this procedure, the dosage for a pond may be determined. For example, the 208 Lt sample is dosed with 1 Lt and the odour is eliminated. After four days the odour returns and the sample is dosed with 1 Lt of BioMagic This procedure is repeated until the solids are digested and the water is clear or semi-clear.

Keeping a good record will allow a close guess of what it will take to treat a pond. As most ponds are dynamic, not static, the sample will give you a good starting point to determine the dosage required for treatment.

In the literature supplied with BioMagic 100 the recommended dosage is 30 Ml per 40 Litres. This is the recommended dosage for holding and septic thanks.

A dosage of 30 Ml per 40 litres is +-165 Ml for 208 Litres. This is many more times the starting dosage recommended for a pond.

The bottle label recommends a dosage of +-1500 Litres of BioMagic per million Litres of pond water, so that most all situations will succeed. The over dosage of 0.156 % (640 PPM) is designed to cover most all situations.

Aerating the lagoons with pressurised air would help to create an aerobic condition by increasing the dissolved oxygen and agitating the biomass. Aerating will reduce the dosage of BioMagic required by as much as 20%.

Aerators come in many forms. Some are very expensive and require a great deal of maintenance. The simpler the system the better. A low cost aeration system may be constructed using PVC pipe and a turbine or roots type compressor.

The size PVC pipe used is determined by the size of the pond. 2.5 cm PVC is adequate for ponds up to about 7.500.000 Litres.

To install the PVC pipe, divide the pond into a grid of not more than 6 metre square. 3 metre squares would be the optimum. Place the pipe on the bottom of the pond using concrete bocks as weights to hold the pipe down. Run the pipe through the hole in the concrete block. Each pipe is laid down to form a grid.

The ends of the PVC pipe should be arranged so as to be above the highest level of the pond. The ends of pipe are connected together and run to the air compressor. The connections may have to be disassembled to clean the pipe so do not cement these joints. The opposite end of each pipe is capped with a push on cap. The caps may have to be removed to clean the pipes

The PVC pipe must be drilled about every 50-cm on the bottom of the pipe to allow the air to escape. Placing the holes on the bottom will force liquids out of the pipes. The size and the number of holes drilled are a function of the size of the pond and the air compressor. The cumulative area of the drilled hole size for each pipe should not exceed the area of the pipe. The cumulative area of the drilled holes for the complete grid must not be so large as to allow the pressure in the grid to be uneven.

Turbine or regenerative blowers and Roots type blowers are made in various sizes. For example a 5-cm regenerative blower can produce 305 cm of water in pressure. This means that the pond cannot be over 305 cm deep.

If more air is desired, a larger blower or more than one blower may be used. A pressure gauge should be attached at the discharge of the blower. The pressure gauge will allow the condition of the system to be monitored.

A pond that is 30 metres by 30 metres and 2 metres deep with 3 metres grids and 0.08 holes on 50 cm spacing will have about 800 holes. A pond this size could use larger holes or more holes.

A pond 30 metres by 30 metres and 2 metres deep with 6 metres grids could have 800 0.16 holes and still be aerated with a 5 cm blower.

The pressure output of the blower must be greater than the depth of the pond. For example, a pond that is 3.66 metres (12 ft deep) will require a blower or pump that will produce in excess of 366 cm (144 inches), of water pressure.

Roots type blowers will provide up to 15 psi, which is over 30 ft of water pressure. Many sizes are readily available.

Agitating the pond allows the aerobic bacteria to work deeper into the sludge on the bottom of the pond. Taking the sludge aerobic faster will clean the pond faster.

40 to 60 gallons of BioMagic will generally treat one million gallons of wastewater flow per day (40 to 60 PPM). 40 to 60 PPM will activate the bacteria and create an increased aerobic condition. The 40 to 60 PPM will not, in all cases, create a total aerobic condition.

Test have shown that 40 to 60 PPM will reduce the solids produced but may not completely stop all odour production in all situations. This means that the biomass is not totally aerobic. Test to determine the dosage required for your application.

Following is a letter from a wastewater company in the USA who did a trial with BioMagic.

The dosage recommended is 0.15 %. The dosage per million litres to achieve the zero sulphides is .0015 times 1,000,000, that equals 1 litre.

Most waste water applications do not design for zero dissolved sulphides, most applications design for zero hydrogen sulphide gas that requires about ten times less dosage. (0.015%)

The higher dosages were run just to see what would happen to the various parameters.

The data shows where the odour is stopped and other parameters that are of interest. Note that if the spiking of BioMagic is performed to just eliminate the sulphides, nitrate and nitrite are not a problem.

BioMagic works by oxidising odours and then creating an aerobic bacterial state that eliminates the production of odours. So far, we have found three chemicals that do not respond rapidly to this treatment.

Tutricine and Putricine are chemicals that produce extremely foul odours and do not respond to treatment with an oxygenating product. Tutricine is found in swine and grape skin waste. Putricine is found in fish oils. Spraying BioMagic will oxidise the airborne odours, but does not stop the production of these odours. The bacteria found naturally in nature will digest these chemicals after a relatively long period of time (months).

Elimination of the odours from these two chemicals requires the odour producing waste be treated with bacteria and BioMagic to lower the BOD to below 500. The odour will be controlled in days, not minutes as is normal for waste treated with BioMagic

The waste products where Tutricine was found, is a by-product of the wineskins, seeds and stems that is used to produce a special product for the medical and vitamin industry. The BOD of the raw product was found to be about 35,000 or higher. After being exposed to the air in a sewage pond, the BOD was tested at about 25,000.

Before any bacteria can function to digest the smelly waste, the BOD has to be reduced to a much lower level by the addition of massive amounts of oxygen. BioMagic or aeration will lower the BOD to a level that the bacteria will function and digest the waste.

Tannic Acid or Tannin does not respond to bacterial action. Tannin does not have an odour, but turns water dark in colour. Tannin is from tree bark and turns ponds and streams tan to dark brown or black if the quantity is sufficient. BioMagic does not work without bacterial action.

A very large company controls about 80% of the products used in the treatment of industrial wastewater. The large company has a US patent on a process that uses Calcium or Sodium nitrate in a prescribed procedure for the control of hydrogen sulphide odours.

We obtained a sample of Calcium Nitrate and ran a small number of comparative tests with BioMagic. The competitive product has a specific gravity of 1.45 as compared to the specific gravity 1.4 for BioMagic. The pH and other parameters were similar.

The test results were very conclusive. The test show that the BioMagic product works about three time better than the competitive product, even though the competitive product has more chemicals, (a higher Specific Gravity).

We are very close to being on the list of products that government agencies use in the everyday conduct of business. The plan is to use BioMagic on the US Navy ships.

The GSA need was created by P2S Engineering in Long Beach California. P2S is building a support terminal for Navy ships in Long Beach. They wish to use BioMagic to eliminate the problems normally associated with handling the sewage on ship that is transferred to a shore facility for disposal.

Before P2S can specify a product that is used in a government contract, the product must be available through the GSA.

Part of the procedure for a new product available through the GSA is to send a mailing to all the current buyers that use the GSA as a source of goods. The mailing list is very impressive. Many big, big name’s, such as the American Red Cross, Boeing Aircraft and about 2,800 more possible customers.

I must admit, that visions of a new set of sails for the sailboat and warm and fair seas are sailing through my thoughts.

To prepare for the vastly increased sales, we have been building up the manufacturing and bottling capability at our rinky dink factory

BioMagic is working well in the shrimp ponds in Thailand and Vietnam. The Blue Lakes Trout Company in Twin Falls ID is now using BioMagic and very satisfied with the results.

The folks in Ohio and Georgia that are using BioMagic in lift stations are very happy with the product.

Twin Falls has the river rafting companies using BioMagic in all the portable toilets used for rafting.

BioMagic has been introduced to the chicken growers in China. They have found that it eliminates the odours from chicken manure that is composted indoors due to the weather conditions. The chicken farm has millions of chickens and the chicken waste is composted and sold as fertiliser. They are achieving a finished product in about 28 days.

We are working on a video about BioMagic that will be made available on a CD for use as a advertising tool.
